Independent flight instruction | Bellanca Super Viking checkouts
Learning to fly is an exhilarating experience! And, with a bit of training, it can also turn into a rewarding career. I'm based out of Phoenix Goodyear airport, but have traveled to help bring the joy of flying to others, within the state and out of it.
Why not use a flight instructor near me?
A great question, and the answer is, "You should!" A local instructor will generally be cheaper for you. The FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours of flight time each for both Private Pilot Certificate and Instrument Rating, so your training is going to take more than a weekend or a week. Paying for an out-of-towner's expenses is going to get expensive. Generally, for non-Arizona flight training (and even some of the further away parts of Arizona), getting a local flight instructor near you is going to give you best bang for your buck.
Independent flight instruction in Arizona
With the fantastic weather we enjoy here in AZ, learning to fly is much less restricted due to weather events than the vast majority of the rest of the USA. And there's plenty of options of flight school and airports. For various reasons, however, some students don't fit the established flight school format, and that's where a local independent flight instructor can help fill the gap. We can often provide more flexibility than many schools.

Bellanca Super Viking checkouts
As you will read on our About page, we owned a Bellanca Super Viking for a number of years, and still greatly miss her! Because the BSV is a less common aircraft, and many insurance companies want a CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) with Bellanca experience, it can be hard finding a DFI with the right credentials to complete pre-insurance training or checkouts. We've been as far away as Texas and Los Angeles to do checkouts and pre-insurance training.
